The performance "Disappearing Environments, by Judy Chicago and Materials Applications," took place at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica in tandem with Art Los Angeles Contemporary Art Fair
What peaked my interest--
I must admit, I am really not a hard core feminist --in the 1960's sense of the word although-- I do believe in goddess worship--in social justice, and in equality for all-- even Mother Earth and all the critters that thrive upon her.
To be honest the reason that I was intrigued to see this performance with Judy Chicago was I felt it was very historic. Kind of like a marker in time, that I wanted to directly experience. And yes when I think of Judy Chicago I just think of the Dinner Party . For me it brings up Art Survey 101, in my Freshman year in Art School. Judy Chicago is part of my study and initiation into the art academia world.
Chicago even says that, "I have experienced: covert censorship, where the only work of mine allowed to see the light of day in terms of real visibility is "The Dinner Party." in the article Q&A Judy Chicago in the LA Times. I understand her frustration. but at least it put her on the map in big way.

During the happening Judy Chicago was very present and available doing interviews with the press and embracing old friends.
At one point this peformance artist Audrey Chan dressed up as Judy from 1960's came into the scene. I began questioning time and space.
From Chicago to Chicago: How I Became a Feminist Artist Despite Never Having Witnessed the 1970s from Audrey Chan on Vimeo. What a surprise to find out she was the Judy Chicago impersonator.
Below is what I personally captured on that eve!

Aside, in the moment as I wanted to venture into the center of the disappearing environment and I accidentally kicked one of the flares from the installation--a small group of snobby art goers were like "oh my she is going to be set on fire." And I said what a great performance that would be.
